The purpose of this didactic course is to prepare the Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner student to identify and implement appropriate health promotion and disease prevention strategies in the adult and geriatric populations. The focus is on the advanced practice nursing of individuals and families in the acute care setting. Emphasis is placed on health promotion/disease prevention with strategic planning at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention.
