This course offers an introduction to political and economic anthropology. The course begins by tracing the emergence of political anthropology as a distinct field of study, focusing on classic ethnographic studies such as the Nuer of South Sudan and the Kachin of Burma to understand forms of political organization beyond the nation-state.
