Foundations, Methods, and Materials for Teaching ESL in the

Content Areas. This course examines the rationale, history, and philosophy of bilingual and ESL education and develops students’ understanding of the cultural and psychological influences that mediate the learning process. Students will develop expertise in the content, methods, and materials of elementary ESL classroom instruction, including curricula and strategies for meeting the needs of English language learners in academic content areas.
