History of Ancient Greece

This course focuses on the history of ancient Greece, beginning ca. 1600 BCE with the prehistoric Mycenaean civilization, and ending in 323 BCE with the death of Alexander the Great. Students will give special attention to the Classical Period (479–323 BCE), dominated by the Peloponnesian War between the city-states of Athens and Sparta, as well as how these ancient civilizations have impacted the current world order.
