The Early Modern Atlantic World

Focusing on a comparison of early modern texts representing the encounter between Europeans and native Americans from a variety of perspectives (Spanish, Nahuatl, French, English) and a variety of genres (letters, history, ethnography, poetry, drama), we will examine the convergence of hitherto separated cultures in a key region of the emerging global world: the Atlantic.
