Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders

This course will provide an overview of varying types of speech, language, and hearing disorders. The role of the speech-language pathologist and audiologist will be discussed, and the student will be exposed to information on varied work settings and potential career opportunities. Attention will be given to interprofessional collaborative teamwork that occurs in all workplace settings. An emphasis on cultural awareness, etiologies, and principles of management will be discussed.
