Language and Society

This course closely examines the nature and function of differences in written and spoken language, and it includes a focus on diverse populations, inclusive practices, and equitable outcomes . While the emphasis is on spoken and written language, some attention is also paid to differences in nonverbal expressions . The contrasts between the rhetorical patterns of people across identity groups and cultural groups are carefully examined.
