Survey of geosciences through an examination of natural hazards including causes and effects, of earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, floods, landslides, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, climate change, and impacts of extraterrestrial objects. These earth processes have a direct, and often sudden and violent, impact on human society. The course integrates principles of geology, hydrology, meteorology, climatology, oceanography, soil science, ecology, and solar system astronomy.
