Gerontology and the Family

This course provides an introduction to the field of gerontology, exploring the intersections between aging, family relationships, and societal change. As the foundational course for the gerontology concentration, students will examine demographic trends, theoretical perspectives, and research methodologies in aging studies. Special emphasis will be placed on late-life transitions, intergenerational relationships, and the role of family caregiving.
