In a period dominated by the personalities of the Roman Emperors such as Caligula and Nero, this course explores the personalities and reigns of the 'Twelve Caesars' (3 1 BC-AD 96) comparing the approaches of ancient historians (Tacitus and Cassius Dio) and biographers (Suetonius and Plutarch) in order to understand the impact of the Emperor on the Roman World.
