The Image of African Americans in the Media

An historical survey and analysis of the way African Americans have been presented in the various media: print, photography, radio, television, and movies. The method is largely audiovisual. Both the racial stereotyped views and the more positive representations are seen. The impact on national attitudes and behavior is evaluated.
