African-American History

A study of the major issues in African-American history. Topics include the slave trade, slavery, slave resistance, emancipation, the Jim Crow society, the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights movement. Critical reading skills, writing proficiency, research methods, document analysis, public speaking and argument formation are skills that are emphasized in this course. A graduate research paper is required.
