A historical examination of how, and why, the United States became involved in Vietnam during the second half of the twentieth century. Examines American foreign policy in Vietnam, the domestic impact of the war, movements against the war, and how race, class, and gender informed the composition of the armed forces, as well as larger questions related to issues such as nationalism, patriotism, dissent, and power.
