This course is intended to develop an understanding of coding and classification systems in outpatient settings in order to assign valid diagnostic and procedure codes. Instruction includes coding diagnoses and procedures; sequencing codes; analyzing actual physician documentation to identify data elements to be coded; and validated coded clinical information.
