This course is intended for students to develop an understanding of coding and classification systems in ambulatory settings in order to assign valid medical codes. Instruction includes coding outpatient procedures and correct sequencing of codes, analyzing actual physician documentation to identify data elements to be coded, and validating coded clinical information.
