The Nature of Modernity

Course will examine selected works from the growing body of science (or "speculative") fiction from two points of view: literary value (use of language, style, characterization, theme, structure, and techniques), and philosophical value (insight into the human condition, humankind's relation to science and technology, possible futures and illumination of contemperary culture, society, events, trends).
