America in the 1970s

This course examines the major developments in the United States during the 1970s and how those developments were reflected in the decade’s popular culture, in particular, popular television shows and movies. Topics to be explored include the Vietnam War, the Watergate scandal, the economic and urban crises, school and housing integration, and the feminist and sexual liberation movements. No claim is made for comprehensive coverage of the decade.
