News Analysis

This course is designed to help students understand the issues pertinent to news, from its production, function, effects to external influences on news. Students will look at what constitute news; who are the professionals producing news; who are the people consuming news; what factors affect production and consumption. The class will also examine how news serves its audience and society and how news affects the social, economic and political processes.
