This intensive 2-week in-person course provides an in-depth study of the biology of sharks and rays, focusing on regional shark fauna and field techniques. Topics covered include the origin and systematics of chondrichthyans, sensory biology, locomotion, feeding, osmoregulation, reproductive biology, life history, ecology, and conservation. Students will learn about current research methods and field techniques, including longline and gillnet sampling and shark identification.
