Hurricanes of The Gulf Coast

This introductory survey course focuses on hurricanes, particularly those affecting the Gulf Coast, with an emphasis on their climatology, impacts, and forecasting. Over the span of five weeks, students will examine the history and frequency of hurricanes in the region, the environmental conditions that influence their development, and how they move and intensify.
