In this course students will study diverse genres and repertoires of the Caribbean from pre-colonization to the present, with a focus on the Hispanic Circum-Caribbean. The course scope includes current historiographic and analytical research perspectives, as well as relevant musicological perspectives intersecting with disciplines such as sociology, gender studies, aesthetics, and criticism.
