Introduction to Neurobiology

Students will be introduced to the fundamental basis of neuronal communication and the neurobiological bases of behavior. They will use laboratory exercises to learn to form hypotheses and to collect and analyze experimental data to test their hypothesis. Topics will include invertebrate and vertebrate neuroanatomy, neurons and glia, resting potentials, action potentials, synaptic transmission, neurotransmitters and receptors, sensory transduction, and sensorimotor integration.
