Social life takes place within multiple social networks that fundamentally shape our lives. The most obvious of these types of networks are popular social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter/X. Yet networks proliferate in numerous other contexts. Friendships, work organizations, the transmission of disease, criminal gangs, and international organizations all can be represented in this manner.
