This course discusses the importance of literature in developing ideas about Latin American citizenship and identities during the 20th and early 21st centuries. Students will read and study key Latin American works from different literary genres and regions to become familiar with issues faced over these time periods such as race, gender, class, violence, sexual orientation, and the experience of modernity.
