This course introduces students to the key writers and literary movements in Latin American countries from the arrival of the Spaniards through the twenty-first century. Major themes of discussion include the creation and development of artistic, social, political, and cultural identities on the American continent as portrayed in the genres of narrative, poetry, drama, and essay.
