Western Intellectual Tradition III: Reformation, Revolution, and Enlightenment

Third in a four-semester sequence, this interdisciplinary seminar examines how revolutions in faith, science, and philosophy shaped the development of the Western intellectual tradition. Through the works of Luther, Galileo, Shakespeare, Descartes, Wollstonecraft and others, students will discover how the Reformation, the Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment offered new ways of thinking about the nature of authority.
