Fear and the American Consciousness UH, W

This course seeks to answer two questions: “What do Americans fear, and what can we learn about American culture after studying that fear?” Americans have always, and perhaps now more than ever, maintained deep fear. Fear of the unknown. Of science. Of technology. Of others. Of terrorism. Of gun violence. Of viruses. Of each other. Answering such questions demands a transdisciplinary approach to fear.
