This courses focuses on the history, literature, iconography, and sacred practices of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Texts under study may vary at instructor’s discretion, but will generally include readings from the Hebrew and Christian scriptures, Augustine’s Confessions, Dante’s Commedia, Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, and Milton’s Paradise Lost. Writing proficiency is required for a passing grade in this course.
