Environmental Justice

CUNY Queens College

CourseURBST 267

This course examines the disproportionate impact of urban environmental hazards, from flooding to air pollution, on already marginalized communities. By emphasizing environmental racism, the course analyzes why public agencies locate toxic facilities in communities of color and why these same communities face special hurdles in disaster recovery and in mitigating the effects of climate change.
