Linguistics is the study of language, in the broadest sense, and is closely allied with language learning and language departments. Linguistics has also emerged as one of the important fields in the social sciences. It has strong ties with a variety of other academic domains, especially psychology, computer science, and anthropology. Students will be introduced to both theoretical and applied linguistics as well as to the many subfields of linguistics.
