Hobe Sound Bible College

Alternative Secondary Education

Students may enroll in the Secondary Education program with an alternative secondary major such as Art, Biology, Drama, Physical Education, Social Sciences, or History. A minimum of 30 hours of professional studies is required, and subject-area courses may be taken at another accredited institution or online and transferred to HSBC.

Aviation

The Associate of Science in Aviation prepares students to become licensed commercial pilots serving within the framework of a ministry setting or mission organization. The flight training component may be completed at an FAA-Certified Flight Training School.

Bible

This program is for students who desire a thorough understanding of the Bible before going on to other educational goals or into secular work. The student gains a comprehensive grasp of the structure, content, and teachings of the Bible to use as an integrating factor for evaluating all other learning.

Child Evangelism

This program is for a student who desires to work with children in a ministry setting. The student gains a good understanding of the content and teachings of the Bible, a solid core of education courses, and a grasp of child evangelism courses to understand and work with children of different ages.

Church Music

The Associate of Arts in Church Music trains students to be functional music directors in the local church, developing spiritual maturity and knowledge of music history, music theory, and church music.

Pastors and church leaders around the world are identifying the need for counselors who are skilled, effective, and thoroughly Christian. The Counseling program provides information and skills for those who desire to provide competent, Christian-based counseling, and allows those interested in a career as a licensed professional to complete the prerequisites necessary for graduate training.

The Master of Education is designed to provide professional growth opportunities for Christian educators, preparing candidates to assume leadership roles in Christian day, missionary, international, or national cross-cultural schools. It is available fully online and offered in Educational Leadership, Instruction and Learning, and Exceptional Student Education concentrations.

Elementary Education

The major in Elementary Education is designed to prepare Christian teachers qualified to teach children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Emphasis is placed on effective methods of educating children, thorough understanding of the content to be taught, and practical application in the actual classroom setting.

General Christian Studies

The General Christian Studies program provides students an opportunity to choose courses that let them concentrate on a particular field of interest, making it possible to prepare for a nontraditional ministry. It is also designed for those who possess or plan to obtain a specialized associate degree, whose credits may transfer to meet the concentration requirements of this degree.

Intercultural Studies

The major in Intercultural Studies is especially designed to prepare students to serve as missionaries to people of other cultures. Students are introduced to the concepts of culture in general and taught how the Gospel may be spread in various cross-cultural settings, with the option of a minor from another discipline to fit their area of ministry.

Media Ministry

The Associate of Science in Media Ministry gives students a functional understanding of media presentations, video/sound applications, and web design, combined with a Bible/Theology and general education core.

Ministerial Studies

The division of ministerial studies is especially for those students who are called to the work of ministry. The curriculum is designed to lead directly to ordination and the full-time work of the pastor, associate pastor, evangelist, and other specialized ministries in the local church.

A Spanish-language Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministries offered through Hobe Online long-distance education.

Music

Based on the premise that music is a gift from God intended to be an integral part of life and worship, this program trains students to be functional music directors in the local church with knowledge of music history, theory, and church music. It is offered in Sacred, Performance/Pedagogy, and Education concentrations.

Pre-Professional Studies

This program is designed for the student who will be going on to another college or university to pursue a professional career. It provides a foundation in biblical truth and a general education core to prepare students to pursue their career goals at advanced levels.

Secondary English Education

This major prepares Christian teachers qualified to teach English subjects to teenagers in grades 7 through 12, with emphasis on a broad exposure to the great masterpieces of English and American literature, grammar, and composition. It can also serve as preparation for careers in journalism, communications, and writing.

Secondary Math Education

This major prepares Christian teachers qualified to teach mathematics subjects to teenagers in grades 7 through 12, with emphasis on thorough mastery of important mathematical concepts and college-level math reasoning. It may also serve as preparation for other-than-classroom careers in mathematics.

Secretarial Science

The Associate of Science in Secretarial Science provides a functional understanding of secretarial and office practices, including word processing, records and database management, spreadsheets, and business communications.

TESOL Education

This major is designed to prepare Christian teachers, both American and foreign, to teach English as a second or foreign language to children and adult speakers of other languages. It serves as preparation for a wide range of careers developing worldwide and prepares students interested in master's programs in TESOL.
