Biomedical Sciences (M.A.)

The Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences (M.A.) degree is a full-time, three-quarter, graduate level, coursework only program designed to help students with a bachelor's degree improve their academic foundation in the biomedical sciences and enhance their credentials for admission into medical school, dental school or other health professional programs. All students complete a minimum of 45 quarter hour credits.

Biomedical Sciences (M.B.S.)

The Master of Biomedical Sciences Program is a full-time, graduate-level program that provides the student with a broad background in the biomedical sciences and contemporary laboratory and research skills. Successful completion leads to a Master of Biomedical Sciences degree (MBS); the 72 quarter-hour curriculum is usually completed in 21 months and culminates in a research project and thesis that each student must orally defend prior to graduation.

Clinical Psychology

The Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree is designed to be a professional degree similar to the doctoral degrees provided in medicine, law, pharmacy, physical therapy, and dentistry, and is the degree of choice for persons interested in becoming a practitioner-scholar pursuing a career in clinical psychology. The program follows the recommendations of the American Psychological Association for broad and general education and training for Health Service Psychologists.

Dental Medicine

The College of Dental Medicine-Illinois awards the Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree upon successful completion of the professional curriculum. The program prepares students for the general practice of dentistry through a combination of biomedical and dental sciences, preclinical training, and clinical patient care.

Master of Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapy Program offers a curriculum leading to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree. The full-time, continuous, entry-level doctoral curriculum extends 33 months from matriculation to graduation and offers a balanced combination of foundational, clinical, research and experiential coursework designed to foster therapists who are self-directed, thoughtful, and caring professionals.

Optometry

The Midwestern University Chicago College of Optometry (CCO) awards the degree Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) upon successful completion of the four-year professional curriculum in optometry. The first and second years emphasize basic health sciences, optics and visual science; the third year is divided between didactic and clinical settings; and the fourth year consists of intensive clinical training including on- and off-campus clinical rotations.

Osteopathic Medicine

Upon graduation from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree is granted. The usual length of the course of study is 4 academic years. The curriculum consists of 2 years of primarily didactic instruction followed by 2 years of primarily clinical rotations, and graduates are eligible for postdoctoral residency training in all fields of medicine.

Pharmacy

At the College, students pursue the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, which prepares the student for entry into the profession of pharmacy. The entire program requires a total of five years of coursework, the first two years at another college and the final three calendar years at the College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove Campus, emphasizing the basic and pharmaceutical sciences, social and administrative sciences, pharmacy practice, and clinical/experiential education.

Physical Therapy

Midwestern University's Physical Therapy Program offers a course of study leading to the Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) degree. The full-time, continuous, 34-month, entry-level curriculum is designed to deliver the academic and clinical education required to prepare students for their professional role as key members of the healthcare team. The focus is the preparation of entry-level, generalist physical therapists able to provide competent, skilled professional services.

Physician Assistant Studies

The professional curriculum leads to a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. This full-time 27-month professional program offers students the opportunity to earn a graduate degree and satisfy the eligibility requirements for the PA national certifying examination. The comprehensive curriculum encompasses 12 months of basic science coursework followed by 15 months of clinical rotations in eight core areas and one elective clinical setting.

Precision Medicine

The Post-Graduate Certificate (PGCert) in Precision Medicine is an interdisciplinary professional certificate in applied genomic sciences designed to prepare healthcare professional students and practicing healthcare professionals to utilize genomic information in the prediction, diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, and treatment of disease. The online, 22 quarter-credit hour curriculum can be completed as a dual-track or stand-alone program.

Precision Medicine

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Precision Medicine is an interdisciplinary professional dual degree in applied genomic sciences that aims to prepare healthcare professional students to utilize genomic information in the prediction, diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, and treatment of disease. The online, 46 quarter-credit hour Master's degree curriculum is completed in conjunction with a healthcare professional degree and includes an applied genomic Capstone Project.

Public Health

The Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) program is an interdisciplinary professional degree in public health with a One Health-focused curriculum that emphasizes the interconnectedness of health among human, animal, and environmental systems. The entirely online, 56-quarter-credit curriculum can be taken as a stand-alone degree or dovetailed with Midwestern's healthcare professional programs as a dual degree, and includes required coursework, a public health practicum, and a capstone project.

Speech-Language Pathology

The Speech-Language Pathology Program provides academic and clinical experiences that culminate in the Master of Science (M.S.) in Speech-Language Pathology degree, preparing students for a professional role as a speech-language pathologist (SLP). The continuous, full-time Traditional Track spans seven quarters, or 21 months from admission to graduation, with additional Leveling Track and Part-Time Track options available.
