Accounting

The major in accounting is designed to prepare a student for professional accounting. When this specialization is combined with the broad foundation of the business concentration, the student has the potential of many opportunities within the business world.

Applied Science

Applied Science is a discipline that develops practical applications or innovations by using existing scientific knowledge. This degree provides students with the knowledge and skills to address applied problems in engineering, science, and other fields as well as pursue advanced studies in several science disciplines.

Art (Bachelor of Arts)

The ORU art program recognizes the study of art is an expression of an individual's beliefs and endeavors to nurture each student's creativity, ability and call to be a Christian. The primary focus of the B.A. is to give a breadth of general studies in the arts and humanities with little to no specialization.

Art (Bachelor of Fine Arts)

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art degree offers a professional undergraduate degree in specializations of Game Design and Development, Graphic Design and Studio Art. The curriculum is structured to provide in-depth, formal education that will assist in preparing students for entry into the classroom, professional practice or graduate school.

Biblical Foundations

A certificate consisting of Old Testament Introduction, New Testament Introduction, and Hermeneutics: Principles of Biblical Interpretation. Students pursuing a certificate program are not eligible for financial aid.

Biblical Greek

A certificate consisting of Biblical Greek I and II and Greek Exegesis I and II. Students pursuing a certificate program are not eligible for financial aid.

Biblical Literature

The Master of Arts in Biblical Literature is designed to give students hermeneutical and exegetical perspectives, tools, and methods to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Old and New Testament and to interpret Biblical content responsibly and perceptively. This program enables students to integrate hermeneutical and exegetical insights into a theological/historical framework shaped by interaction with the Spirit-empowered ethos of Oral Roberts University.

Biblical Literature

The biblical literature focus exposes students to a broad spectrum of hermeneutical and exegetical perspectives, tools, and methods so that they may interpret the Bible responsibly and perceptively within a theological-historical framework. Students choose a concentration in English Bible, New Testament or Old Testament and corresponding cognate.

Biochemistry

The Biochemistry program offers an interdisciplinary education that bridges the fields of biology and chemistry. Students engage in comprehensive coursework and hands-on laboratory experiences, developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and proficiency in modern laboratory techniques.

Biology

The biology major is designed to provide a broad understanding of the principles of life giving processes at molecular, cellular, organismal and ecological levels. The major offers an optional concentration in pre-health professions and prepares students to pursue graduate studies or work as a laboratory assistant in clinics, industry or academia.

Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration degree is considered the most flexible business-related degree on the graduate level. In addition to a broad range of basic courses, the M.B.A. program offers special training, research opportunities, and field assignments in individual areas of interest. ORU's M.B.A. program emphasizes management strategy and techniques, long-range planning, organizational behavior, communication, motivation, business ethics, and moral principles.

Business Administration

The business administration major provides a basis for social understanding and appreciation of the interrelationships in business, with a cognate including business fundamentals in accounting, finance, management, and marketing. Students may choose a minor in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Nonprofit Business, or one from another discipline.

Business Administration in Leadership

The online Master of Business Administration in Leadership degree provides a course of study emphasizing the two critical components of outstanding business leadership--technical business knowledge and expertise across all of the core components of a highly-valued and traditional M.B.A. degree and effective leadership training, comprehensively integrated into one program.

Business Analytics

The business analytics major prepares students for corporate or private business, positions that require knowledge in the more quantitative enterprises, investment banking, private equity firms and graduate schools that require more quantitative preparation. The program requires eight hours of calculus, the history of economic thought and a minor in mathematics or technology.

Business and Ministry

The Business and Ministry major prepares a student to create and/or run a for profit or not for profit organization as a ministry. Specialty courses in business and a minor in theology focus on how to use the business platform as a vehicle of spreading the love of Jesus.

Christian Caregiving and Counseling

This integrative program is designed to help students develop their Christian caregiving and counseling theology and Christian worldview, with a focus on the role of the Holy Spirit, while developing competence in their caregiving skills. Classes prepare students to enter into various fields in which caregiving for the soul is central.

Christian Ministry

The Master of Christian Ministry is offered by Online & Lifelong Learning in conjunction with ORU's Graduate School of Theology and Ministry as one of the seven specialized accredited degrees recognized by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.

Christian Thought

This major is offered online through the ORU College of Theology and Ministry. Coursework integrates Bible, theology, philosophy and apologetics, preparing students for ministerial or academic callings.

Christian Thought and Apologetics

Christian Thought and Apologetics emphasizes the essentials of Christian belief faithfully preserved by the great Christian thinkers of the past and present. The major enables the student to integrate the various doctrines of the Christian faith into a consistent whole, providing the foundation for pursuing a ministerial or academic calling.

Cinema & Media Arts (Bachelor of Fine Arts)

Media is an ever-changing language. This major focuses on preparing students to become visual storytellers, equipping them in a broad spectrum of skills such as scriptwriting, producing, directing, camera operating, lighting, sound capturing, Foley, audio mixing, video editing and effects. Students who want to pursue the major are considered candidates through their first two years and may apply for entrance to the Media Mastery Institute.

Cinema & Media Arts (Bachelor of Science)

The B.S. in Cinema & Media Arts prepares students to navigate the ever-changing media landscape within organizations and across current and emerging technologies. The degree allows students to customize the degree plan with concentrated courses or a minor.

Commercial Music

The Commercial Music degree is uniquely positioned to provide students with the skills necessary to pursue a career in contemporary music. Students will gain the working knowledge and practical skills in songwriting, recording, and producing music, and also take courses and gain experience in live sound and lighting.

Communication (Bachelor of Arts)

The communication major purposes to develop skills in interviewing, listening, public speaking, problem solving, leading conferences, developing seminars, analyzing communication systems, and communication consulting. Computer Science

Counseling Studies

The Master of Arts in Counseling Studies program (MCS) is designed to prepare students for non-licensed professions in which in-depth knowledge of the counseling process is needed. This might include employment in human services agencies, coordinating counseling centers, and service and leadership in the Christian church, ministries, and society.

Criminal Justice

Courses in criminal justice are focused on the issues of law, crime, law enforcement, corrections, and the criminal justice system. Dance (Bachelor of Arts)

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance degree offers 2 concentrations: Dance Performance and Dance Management. A residential certificate offered by the Computing and Mathematics Department consisting of Introduction to Data Science and Visualizations.

Data Science

A residential certificate offered by the Computing and Mathematics Department in data science foundations and applications plus a choice of data mining and machine learning or artificial intelligence. The Certificate in Fundamentals of Computer Science must be completed prior to this certificate.

Digital Communication

This major is offered online through the ORU College of Arts and Cultural Studies. Coursework covers digital society, digital composition, newswriting, photography, storytelling, web design, cross-platform writing, communication research, media law and ethics, social media management, and a capstone project.

Divinity

The Master of Divinity degree (M.Div.) is the basic professional degree for ministry. The M.Div. is a balanced program that integrates the fields of Biblical literature, theological/historical studies, and the practices of ministry, preparing students for effective ministry as pastors, church associates, evangelists, chaplains, and a broad variety of ministries.

Educational Leadership

The Educational Specialist program (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership is designed to provide professionals in education an opportunity to refine their skills and knowledge base. The Ed.S. program is comprised of 41-44 post-master's credit hours concluding with a capstone project, and candidates may either successfully defend their dissertation proposal or complete an internship related to their program of study.

Educational Leadership

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership program is designed to provide professionals in education an opportunity to refine their skills and knowledge base. The program is based on a core curriculum, research classes, and a dissertation, and focuses on four concentrations: Public School Administration, Christian School Administration, Higher Education Administration, or Higher Education Teaching.

Elementary Education

The Undergraduate Department of the College of Education administers a teacher preparation program designed to equip teachers for assignments in elementary schools. The elementary education degree (grades 1-8) includes concentrations such as Early Childhood, English Language Learner, International Teaching, Multidisciplinary, and Special Education.

Empowered Leadership

This certificate is for any early career professionals who are looking to build a foundation as a whole leader, able to lead themselves and others. It consists of Whole Leader Foundations, Leadership Communication, and Leadership Studies Practicum.

Engineering

The School of Engineering seeks to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences that will prepare them to solve real world problems within the context of a Christian worldview. As part of the engineering major, students select one of the following concentrations and its corresponding cognate: Biomedical, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.

English in the Global Classroom

This degree includes certification in English (5-8) and ELL (PK-12) and includes an international teaching experience.

Entrepreneurship

The major in entrepreneurship prepares students for launching businesses and succeeding in a highly competitive marketplace. This major is offered online through the ORU Fenimore & Fisher College of Business. Coursework includes federal income tax accounting, personal financial planning, financial management, investments, advanced financial management, international financial management, and capital markets.

A residential certificate offered by the Computing and Mathematics Department consisting of Introduction to Computing and Intermediate Programming. This certificate must be completed prior to any of the other computing certificate programs.

Fundamentals of Data Structures and Database Development

A residential certificate offered by the Computing and Mathematics Department consisting of Database Development and Data Structures. The Certificate in Fundamentals of Computer Science must be completed prior to this certificate.

Game Design and Development

A residential microcredential in game design and development covering introduction to game design and development, 2D game prototyping and demo production, and 3D game prototyping and demo production.

Global Health and Environmental Sustainability

The BS in Global Health and Environmental Sustainability responds to the growing need for professionals who understand the intricate connections between human health, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development. The degree is designed to prepare students to address some of the most significant global challenges of our time.

Health and Exercise Science

This major helps prepare students for careers in health and exercise science related areas. Students with this major choose one of four areas of concentration: exercise specialist, pre-occupational therapy, pre-physical therapy, or pre-sports medicine, and the major includes an internship.

History

Students majoring in history complete twelve credits of core history courses and twenty-seven credits of upper-level history electives. Students may focus on specific areas or take a variety of courses that reflect personal interests.

Human Resource Management

This major is offered online through the ORU Fenimore & Fisher College of Business. Coursework includes organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic management, workforce planning and employment law, and compensation and benefits.

Information Technology

A residential microcredential combining the Certificate in Fundamentals of Computer Science with ORU general education courses and an information technology concentration including project management, computing ethics, IT fundamentals, programming, human computer interaction, and technical communication.

Coursework includes information technology fundamentals, programming, networking, web systems and technologies, information management, systems administration, integrative programming, information assurance and security, project management, and an IT capstone.

Integrated Life Sciences

The Bachelor of Science in Integrated Life Sciences program is established to address the increasing need for interdisciplinary education in the life sciences. All international business majors complete the foundational courses of the business concentration, along with foreign language and culture classes in the chosen business language minor, or a minor in economics or entrepreneurship.

The international business and ministry degree prepares students for positions in international, multi-national, and borderless for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. In addition to international and general business coursework, the degree requires a minor in theology.

Mathematics Preactuary

Mathematics Preactuary is the study of data in different business settings such as financial risk, insurance risk, and liability. This degree is designed for preparation for actuarial qualification exams and also prepares those wanting to pursue a career in business mathematics such as economics or business analytics.

Medical Molecular Biology

Students completing this program obtain a B.S. in Medical Molecular Biology and minor in biochemistry. The major has a challenging curriculum that includes general biology, medical molecular biology, biochemistry, and psychology, primarily designed to equip students to be competitive applicants for post-baccalaureate degrees in medicine.

Ministry

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) is an advanced professional degree designed to continue the education of ministers and vocational practitioners so that they may be spiritually renewed and increasingly effective in their world ministries. Students remain in their full-time ministries, meeting in a modular format on campus and online, and complete a ministry research project. The program offers two areas of specialization: Pastoral Counseling & Chaplaincy and Church Ministries and Leadership.

The ministry and leadership focus strives to meet the needs for training the personnel to fill the offices of evangelist, pastor, and teacher. Students in this major choose one of six concentrations: church operations, evangelism and outreach, local church pastor, intercultural studies, sports ministry, or youth and family ministries.

The major offers three concentration areas: Instrumental, Keyboard, or Vocal, each providing weekly individual lessons preparing students for solo and ensemble performances.

Nursing

The nursing core covers scholarship and research, immersive technology and informatics, contextual influences on education, leadership and systems management, and the advanced practice sciences, followed by a nursing education track.

Nursing students who satisfactorily complete the four-year sequence of courses earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Oral Roberts University. The degree plan consists of four elements: a liberal arts/general education core, prerequisite courses required for the major, pre-nursing courses, and professional nursing courses.

The Master of Arts in Professional Counseling program (MAPC) is designed to prepare students for professional licensure in qualifying them for the specialized ministry of counseling in the contexts of clinical settings, the local church, or church related agencies. The program is designed to prepare students to meet the licensure requirements for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), and Licensed Marital and Family Therapists (LMFT).

The Master of Education in School Counseling is a comprehensive degree in collaboration with the College of Theology and Ministry. This degree is designed for the educator who wants opportunities to lead as a School Counselor in elementary, middle, or high schools. The degree leads to Oklahoma state certification and can be transferred to other states.

Secondary Education

The secondary education degree prepares teachers for assignments in secondary schools. Students choose from concentrations in Art, Science, English, Math, Social Studies, or Speech, Drama & Debate, with certifications in the indicated grades.

Social Work

The social work program at Oral Roberts University is a professional degree program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The program focuses on human behavior, social structure, and relationships in groups, organizations, and community life.

Sociology

Spirit-Empowered Living

Emphasizes the core beliefs and practices of the Christian life that emerged from the life and ministry of Oral Roberts, including the nature of God, Devotional Life, Healing Ministry and Prayer. Candidates desiring to complete an undergraduate degree after completion of the certificate may make application for admission into the University.

Spirit-Empowered Ministry

A study of the Spirit-empowered ministry in biblical, historical and contemporary contexts, with a focus on how church leadership builds ministry teams, aligns functions, makes team decisions and plans ministry.

Sport Management

Core coursework includes sport and leisure administration, sports marketing and public relations, facility operations, sports analytics, and sport and leisure law, concluding with a capstone project and presentation.

Sport Management

The sport management major prepares students for careers in all sections of the sports industry by providing a broad understanding of the field, while also teaching specific skills in the areas of sport media, sport personnel management, sport law, sport marketing, and sport facility or event management. Students may choose a concentration and the major includes an internship.

Strategic Communication

The Master of Arts in Strategic Communication is offered online through the ORU School of Communication & Public Affairs. The curriculum combines a communication core in theory, applied research, and organizational culture and ethics with a strategic communication specialization in digital media and AI technologies, audience behavior and digital design, and social media campaigns.

Strategic Foresight

A graduate certificate offered through Online and Lifelong Learning consisting of coursework in anticipatory leadership, cultivating strategic foresight, and leading social change. Students pursuing a certificate program are not eligible for financial aid.

Strategic Leadership

This doctoral program is offered online through the School of Communication & Public Affairs in the ORU College of Arts & Cultural Studies. Students complete a major in critical inquiry and research methods, coaching and talent development, organizational culture and design, systems change, global entrepreneurship, and analytics, plus a doctoral project and one of four concentrations.

Strategic Media

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Strategic Media major is a hybrid degree which intersects the newest technologies and skills' development in media, design, communication, and marketing. Students develop a professional portfolio of work in the second half of the program and complete a semester-long, formal internship.

Teaching and Educational Leadership

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Teaching and Educational Leadership is available in three areas of concentration: Interdisciplinary, Teaching, and Building Level Leadership. The concentrations prepare candidates for leadership and teaching roles, for initial or alternative teacher certification, or for the role of principal in public or Christian schools.

Theatre (Bachelor of Arts)

The B.A. in Theatre is a liberal arts degree designed to provide a theatre background for students pursuing an area of study associated with a current B.F.A. offered at ORU, students seeking a double major or specific minor, and students wanting a more general liberal arts approach to theatre.

Theatre (Bachelor of Fine Arts)

The B.F.A. in Theatre is the most intense bachelor's degree in theatre, designed to give students as much professional preparation as possible. Students choose one of three tracks: Classroom & Community; Design & Production; or Theatre Performance, and are accepted through a portfolio/interview process.

Theological and Historical Studies

The Master of Arts in Theological and Historical Studies is designed to prepare students for teaching and research in historical and theological studies, the communication of the doctrines of the faith, and the history of Christianity. This program enables students to understand and communicate the basic historical and theological heritage of the Christian faith and to increase their appreciation of the historical roots of the doctrinal emphases within their particular faith communities.

Theology

The Doctor of Philosophy degree is designed to explore theological constructs and contextually engage with the global Spirit-empowered community to produce original research. Its mission is to prepare Spirit-empowered leaders and scholars to have a healing impact on the world in service to the kingdom of God, equipping students for vocations of research and teaching in theological schools, universities, colleges, churches, and other areas of practice.

Translation and Interpreting

For students with strong language skills, this major begins the process of professional preparation for a career in translation and interpreting, with a focus on translating from their native language into the foreign language. Students will be prepared for work in such fields as education, government, industry, NGO's and faith-based organizations, freelance translation or for graduate programs in translation and interpreting.

Worship Leadership

The Bachelor of Science in Worship Leadership is a program to equip students to become Holy Spirit-empowered worship leaders. Students study the history and practice of worship with hands-on courses including an internship in a local church.

Writing

To prepare students for writing in today's world, writing majors take a broad array of courses in technical and literary writing in which they explore literary genres, technical writing, copyediting, grant writing, publishing, and more. Students choose a concentration in literature or journalism and are required to complete a writing internship and pass a writing proficiency exam.
