Art - Fine Arts Option

The mission of the Peru State College Art Program is to prepare graduates who are capable and successful artists, designers, and teachers. The Art Program has three options available to students based upon their interest. The Fine Arts Option is for students who intend to continue on to graduate school or find a career in the arts.

Business Administration - Accounting Option

The Accounting option prepares students for high-demand careers in financial reporting and management. Initial coursework is designed to prepare students for entry level accounting positions in government and private industry. Students who wish to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination will need to complete the additional requirements for the Public Accounting/CPA Focus.

Business Administration - Business Finance Option

The Business Administration-Business Finance Option provides an undergraduate education for students seeking a career in business and consumer finance, especially in agency ownership or entry-level finance positions. Peru State College's Finance Option is unique in its emphasis on development of the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in accounting, banking, consumer and corporate finance, financial services, investments, insurance, and risk management.

Business Administration - Computer and Management Information Systems Option

The Computer and Management Information Systems (CMIS) option prepares students for employment in the development and use of computer-based systems that generate timely and accurate information used for managing an organization. Though a rigorous field of study, the financial rewards from completing a CMIS option can be particularly high, given the student acquires not only technical computer skills, but also a detailed understanding of the language, processes, and issues of the business world.

Business Administration - Healthcare Business Administration Option

This Healthcare Business Administration option is designed to provide a strong business core and healthcare focused courses. The focused healthcare course provides the student with skills that help to navigate the unique challenges of healthcare organizations including hospital, outpatient, and ancillary services.

Business Administration - Human Resources and Risk Management Option

The Human Resource and Risk Management option will provide students with an exceptionally strong human resources background, along with an understanding and application of risk management principles. Additionally, students are provided with technical skills in project management and database development and programming, which provide human resources professionals with the technical skills necessary to transition easily from college to the workforce.

Business Administration - Management

Business Administration - Management and Leadership Option

The Management and Leadership option provides a sophisticated general business education and prepares graduates for entry and mid-level supervisory and management positions. This option from Peru State is unique in its emphasis on management, project management, and leadership, while also allowing students to develop advanced technology skills in a customizable approach to support a wide array of career options.

Business Administration - Marketing Option

The Marketing option prepares graduates for a wide variety of high-demand careers in marketing and sales. Given the strategy development focus and case-oriented instructional approaches used in many of the marketing courses, this option is particularly good preparation for students who eventually intend to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Marketing students are also encouraged to develop graphic design and other creative skills by earning an Art Minor.

Business Administration - Public Administration Option

The Public Administration option develops student competencies in leadership and management issues that public and nonprofit organizations encounter at the local, regional and national levels.

Business Administration - Sports and Community Leadership & Operations Option

The Sports and Community Leadership and Operations option of the Business Administration program provides students with the opportunity to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the sports industry and leading community organizations. Students in this degree program may seek advanced studies in sports management, sports leadership, college coaching, and community organization leadership.

Creative Marketing

Upon completing a degree in Creative Marketing, students should be able to utilize the knowledge acquired in social media theory, marketing, consumer marketing research, graphic design, and written communication skills that allows for the creation of innovative marketing solutions as part of an organizational marketing strategy.

Creative Writing

This certificate program will prepare students for careers in a variety of writing fields. The certificate will be devoted to the analysis and composition of prose, poetry, and creative non-fiction. Students will develop an appreciation of the various forms of creative expression, while participating in collaborative workshops with their peers. Supplementary attention will be devoted to practical applications such as editorial technique and publishing.

Criminal Justice - Justice Administration Option

The Justice Administration option is for students who are interested in developing career-enhancing leadership/management skills.

Criminal Justice - Justice Counseling Option

The Justice Counseling option is for students who are interested in human services related education.

Liberal Arts

The Liberal Arts major at Peru State builds on the broad General Studies foundation at the college or on a similar foundation in the previous experience of transfer students. The major is dedicated to developing intellectually well-rounded individuals who wish to attain a broad-based undergraduate education. It allows flexibility in selecting concentration fields, facilitating the exploration of multiple areas of interest.

Mathematics

The mathematics program offers a comprehensive and continually updated curriculum that balances the depths of mathematical theory with the practicalities of applied mathematics. Students gain personal and extended interactions with faculty, receiving individualized guidance throughout their coursework.

Music - General Music Option

The B.S. in Music Concentration is a program designed to prepare students for a variety of careers int the music industry. Students graduating with this degree can expect job opportunities in Arts Administration, Music Business, Marketing and Sales, and community opportunities such as church and community musicians, directors for regional bands and choruses. Students will also come away with the ability to run their own instrumental and vocal studios.

The Music Performance option is open to all students who have the ability to read music and perform on a wind or percussion instrument, piano, or as a vocalist.

This certificate program will prepare our students for careers in public history. It will cover the theory and practice of public history. Strength & Conditioning

The Strength & Conditioning concentration examines human movement from a variety of perspectives, including mechanical kinesiology, exercise physiology, and/or neuromechanics. The option is committed to student preparation and development of skills necessary to successfully engage in career in strength and conditioning, personal training, and/or fitness facility management.
