Accounting

Graduates of the Accounting program play a central role in the financial life of a business or client, learning to assemble, identify, record, and interpret financial information in private and public accounting. Graduates are prepared for positions such as accounting technician, accounting assistant, accounting clerk, or bookkeeper.

Accounting/Income Tax Fundamentals

A short certificate covering financial accounting and federal income tax fundamentals.

Advanced Cybersecurity Technician

A certificate covering Python programming, network security fundamentals, advanced network security, ethical hacking, and Cisco firewall design.

Advanced Mechatronics

A certificate (with the Fundamentals of Mechatronics Certificate as prerequisite) introducing programmable logic controllers, industrial robots and sensors, conveyor systems, control panels, and system-level troubleshooting.

Advanced Supply Chain Management

The Advanced Supply Chain Management certificate provides knowledge and skills for employment in the supply chain area, focusing on the end-to-end flow of materials from customer service and procurement to delivery.

Advanced Welding

Graduates are adept in various welding types including Oxy-fuel, Shielded Metal Arc (STICK), Gas Metal Arc (MIG), Flux Core Arc, and Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) welding. Upon completion a welding certification may be acquired in one or more welding processes.

Airframe Technician

A certificate covering aviation maintenance airframe coursework, preparing students for FAA Airframe Technician certification.

Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair

The Maintenance and Light Repair 1 Year Certificate (MLR) prepares students for entry level employment in the automotive industry, covering workplace ethics and safety, routine vehicle maintenance, engine repair, brake installation, tire service, suspension repair, and minor electrical diagnosis. Meets the ASEEF Maintenance and Light Repair requirements.

Automotive Service Technology

Graduates of the Automotive Service Technology (ATM) program are prepared to assume positions in the automotive industry as entry-level technicians, becoming adept in electrical/electronics, engine repair and performance, heating/AC, suspension, brakes, and transmissions.

Automotive Technician

A certificate covering the automotive service technology core courses in brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, transmissions, and heating and air conditioning.

Aviation Maintenance

A certificate in aviation maintenance covering the aviation maintenance core and powerplant coursework.

Aviation Maintenance Technology

Federally-licensed graduates of the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AVM) program are prepared to assume positions as airline or general aviation engine and/or airframe mechanics. The program provides approved instruction leading to FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate examinations.

Basic Electronics

A certificate covering introduction to electronics, DC/AC circuits, digital electronics, and computer information systems.

Basic Operations Firefighter

A certificate covering hazardous materials operations, rescue practices, vehicle/machinery rescue, essentials of firefighting, and fire protection internship.

Basic Quality

A certificate covering CAD and print reading, statistical process control, metrology, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement in manufacturing.

Business Administration

Graduates of the Business Administration program acquire knowledge and skills of business and leadership applicable to entry-level jobs, and are prepared to assume entry-level positions or advance their current position in management, marketing, sales, purchasing, finance, and human relations.

CAD

A certificate covering introductory CAD and print reading, metrology, manufacturing processes, and computer drafting.

C/C++ Programming

A certificate covering programming logic and design and C/C++ and C# programming.

Certified Manufacturing Associate

A certificate covering CAD and print reading, metrology, manufacturing processes, and CNC machine setup/operation/programming.

Cisco Networking

A certificate covering Cisco networking coursework and networking certification preparation.

CNC

A certificate covering CAD and print reading, metrology, manufacturing processes, CNC machine setup/operation/programming, and CNC/CAM operations.

Coaching Education

An IHSA-approved Coaching Certification program; successful completion satisfies the minimum IHSA coaching certification requirements.

Computers & Information Systems

Graduates of the Computers and Information Systems (CIS) program learn the complexities of computer software, hardware, and programming processes. Graduates begin work as entry-level programmers, with opportunities as programmer/analyst, technical support specialist, PC specialist, operations specialist, or in database support.

Criminal Justice

Graduates of the Criminal Justice (CRM) program meet the minimum educational requirements to compete for sworn positions at most local and state law enforcement agencies as well as private security firms. Opportunities include law enforcement, crime prevention, probation, corrections, court records, and communications/dispatch.

Cross Media Production

The Cross Media Production program integrates print and publishing with web and television design, preparing students for entry-level jobs creating print, marketing, web, and special effects images for printing, marketing, and film companies.

Cybersecurity Specialist

Graduates of the Cybersecurity Specialist program are prepared for a career in computer network and Internet security, developing information security strategies, performing analyses, installing security software, and monitoring network traffic.

Cybersecurity Technician

A certificate covering network essentials, network security fundamentals, ethical hacking, and A+ essentials.

Dental Hygiene

The RVC Dental Hygiene (DNT) program prepares students to practice in a variety of professional settings using critical thinking skills, ethical principles, and clinical proficiency. Graduates are eligible to take board exams that lead to state licensure as a dental hygienist.

Early Childhood Education

Graduates of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program are well-versed in child development, developmentally appropriate practices, discipline techniques, and other integral facets of early childhood education, and are prepared to direct or teach at a day care center or preschool.

Early Childhood Educator

A Gateways Level 3 Credential certificate covering introduction to early childhood education, the developing child, health, safety and nutrition, observation and assessment, curriculum planning, and math and science for young children.

Early Childhood Educator Assistant

A Gateways Level 2 Credential certificate covering foundational early childhood education coursework.

Electrician Apprenticeship

A certificate covering introduction to apprenticeship, electrical theory and code, lighting and transformers, motors and wiring systems, alternating current, electronics circuitry, motor control, power controls, and advanced studies.

Electrician Apprenticeship

The Electrician Apprentice (ELC) program consists of technical core courses covering required classroom-related instruction for people who wish to become journeyman electrical workers, requiring a minimum of 800 hours of related instruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.

Electronic Engineering Technology

Graduates of the Electronic Engineering Technology (EET) program have the skills to use electronic test equipment, understand electrical schematics and blueprints, and analyze electronic circuits. Graduates secure positions as test equipment designers, quality assurance specialists, and control system technicians.

Emergency Medical Technician

A certificate covering Emergency Medical Technician/Basic training.

Engineering Science

The Associate in Engineering Science degree is designed to provide students a transition to a four-year baccalaureate engineering degree program. Students who complete the A.E.S. can transfer to an engineering program to complete a Bachelor of Science degree.

Fire Science

Graduates of the Fire Science (FRE) program are prepared to enter a career in the fire service or expand their current fire service professional options, gaining knowledge in fire suppression, building construction, rescue practices, hazardous materials, fire prevention and protection, emergency medical services, and fire service leadership.

Fitness, Wellness, and Sport

The Fitness, Wellness, and Sport (FWS) degree in Exercise Science or Sport Management provides the educational and practical experiences needed to obtain employment in sport, recreation, exercise, or fitness organizations.

Foundation of the Fire Service

A certificate covering introduction to fire protection, rescue practices, building construction for fire protection, and fire prevention principles.

Fundamentals of Mechatronics

A certificate introducing beginners to electro-mechanical systems, graphics and print reading, robotic manipulators, and concepts of end of arm tooling, gear drives, belt drives, and shaft systems.

Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management

The Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management certificate focuses on developing an understanding of how the flow of materials from procurement to delivery can help an organization balance responsiveness and efficiency, designed for front-line, entry-level supply chain management workers.

General Studies

The Associate in General Studies degree is an individualized program designed primarily for students pursuing a broad general program rather than a specific occupational-oriented or baccalaureate-oriented program. It is not designed to transfer to a four-year institution.

Graphic Design

In the Graphic Design program, students study the concepts of drawing and design, typography, color theory, print processes, digital photography, illustration, page layout, marketing, and advertising, and are prepared for entry-level positions such as graphic designer, graphic artist, or production artist.

Industrial Welding

The Industrial Welder Certificate provides instruction in each of the most common processes used in the welding industry, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG), and Oxyfuel welding and cutting, preparing students for an entry-level position.

Liberal Arts

The Associate of Arts degree is for students who plan to major in liberal arts disciplines such as art, criminal justice, education, English, foreign language, geography, history, music, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, and speech, and can also be used for transfer business majors.

Manufacturing Engineering Technology

Graduates of the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) program are prepared for interdisciplinary careers in high-tech manufacturing and industrial technology, with emphasis on modern design methods, production, and continuous improvement techniques.

Mechatronics

Mechatronics is the intersection of mechanical systems, electrical systems, control systems, and computer technologies. Graduates are prepared for employment as mechatronics technician, industrial maintenance technician, or automation and robotics technician.

Media Production Specialist

Graduates of this 31-credit certificate program are prepared to produce a wide range of media projects including multi-format broadcast programs, commercials, public service announcements, and narrative and documentary films.

Medical Assistant

A Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled allied health professional who works primarily in ambulatory care settings, performing clinical procedures and administrative roles. Graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

Medical Coding

A certificate covering biology of human disease, medical terminology, coding, advanced coding, and introduction to health information technology.

Microsoft Server Admin.

A certificate covering Windows Active Directory, Windows Server Fundamentals, and Microsoft Windows Infrastructure.

Multimedia Journalist

Students in this 31-credit certificate program learn how to write and edit news stories, design web pages, and produce audio and video documentaries, preparing them for jobs as news writers, PR representatives, editors, researchers, producers, and photojournalists.

Network System Administration

Graduates of the Network System Administration program are prepared to obtain Cisco's CCNA certification and find work as network support specialists, software support specialists, network administrators, and system administration specialists.

Network Technician

A certificate covering network essentials, A+ essentials, and introduction to UNIX/Linux.

Nursing

The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program prepares graduates to work as entry-level registered professional nurses over four semesters of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences. Graduates are prepared to take the NCLEX-RN exam to receive the national credentials of the Registered Nurse (RN).

Nursing Aide

The Nursing Aide Certificate (CNA) prepares students to enter the health care workforce as caregivers, with mandatory classroom, skill labs, and clinical experiences preparing students to take the state test required for certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). This course is a prerequisite for an A.A.S. Degree in Nursing.

Personal Training

A National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) Education Recognition Program; successful completion prepares students to take the NSCA's Certified Personal Trainer exam.

Phlebotomy Technician

The Phlebotomy Technician Program teaches techniques for obtaining blood samples by venipuncture and dermal capillary procedures. Upon completion, students meet all requirements for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) examination and can work as an entry-level phlebotomist.

Powerplant Technician

A certificate covering aviation maintenance powerplant coursework, preparing students for FAA Powerplant Technician certification.

Prepress

A certificate covering graphic arts technology, Photoshop, Illustrator, and desktop publishing.

Professional Bookkeeper

A certificate program preparing students for bookkeeping positions, covering financial and managerial accounting, spreadsheet applications, general ledger software, fraud detection, and accounting capstone.

Respiratory Care

Respiratory Care is an allied health profession focused on the care of patients with cardiopulmonary problems. Graduates are prepared to work as Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) and are eligible to sit for the RRT credential.

Science

The Associate in Science degree is for students who plan to major in science-related disciplines such as biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, medicine, medical technology, pharmacy, occupational and physical therapy, physics, and veterinary medicine.

Tool and Die/Precision Machinist Apprenticeship

A four-year apprenticeship program for tool and die maker/precision machinist apprentices, who learn to make the gauges and measuring devices used in manufacturing precision metal parts and to construct metal forms used to shape metal stamping and forging operations.

Web Design

A certificate covering programming related to the Internet, advanced Internet programming, introduction to multimedia, and digital photography.

Web Development

A certificate covering programming related to the Internet, advanced Internet programming, database programming, and PHP programming.

Web Programming & Design

Graduates of the Web Programming & Design (WEB) program are prepared for a career in website programming and support, working as web programmers, web programmer assistants, web server systems administrators, web designers, or web media developers.
