Detailed information about this program
This CDL Class B course is offered online through a self-paced, interactive format, followed by hands-on, behind-the-wheel training at community colleges across Alabama. Participants prepare to earn a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL), which qualifies them to operate single vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, including vehicles towing trailers with a GVWR of less than 10,000 pounds. Training includes CDL requirements, vehicle inspections, safe driving practices, backing and maneuvering, and preparation for the state CDL skills exam. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential. Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges.
