Detailed information about this program
The Fiber Optics Technician and Installer course gives participants access to best practices and fundamental principles behind basic data and voice transmission over fiber optic cable, along with installation and termination techniques. The training covers how to identify fiber types, recognize the connectors used in fiber installation, and install, terminate, splice, and test multimode and single-mode fiber optic networks according to existing standards. Participants also build customer service, communication, leadership, attention to detail, and time management skills. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential. Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
