The English curricula teach students to appreciate, understand, and interpret the human experience as expressed through the written and spoken word, developing mastery of language, effective writing, and skills in interpreting literature. Students may select either a major in literature, designed for those interested in graduate school, professional writing, and college teaching, or a major in teaching, designed for those interested in secondary school teaching.
