A Decorative Concrete Flatwork Finisher is a craftsman who has demonstrated knowledge about and the ability to place, finish, cure, and protect decorative concrete flatwork. A Decorative Concrete Flatwork Associate is a person who is knowledgeable about proper procedures to place, finish, cure, and protect decorative concrete flatwork, but who lacks sufficient work experience to qualify as a Decorative Concrete Flatwork Finisher.

Scope and Knowledge: This program requires demonstration of the knowledge covered on the Job Task Analysis (JTA) for Decorative Concrete Flatwork Finisher and Associate: Job Task Analysis (JTA) for ACI Certification Decorative Concrete Flatwork Finisher and Associate The JTA is a detailed list of specific points of knowledge that may be included in the examination for this ACI Certification program. ACI urges candidates to use the JTA to prepare for the certification exam. Certification Requirements: Decorative Concrete Flatwork Finisher: ACI will grant certification only to those candidates who obtain a passing grade on the written examination AND: Are currently certified as an ACI Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher Possess 1,500 hours of actual on-the-job placing and finishing experience* (approximately one year of regular full-time work) The two-hour written examination is closed-book and consists of approximately 50 multiple-choice questions. The passing grade for the written examination is 70%. * Experience includes: A minimum of 250 hours in EACH of the following areas of decorative concrete flatwork placing and finishing: Coloring Stamping Exposed finishes Stairs A minimum of 40 hours in cleaning and sealing of decorative concrete flatwork. Certification is valid for a period of five years from the date of successfully completing all requirements. Recertification requires successful completion of the then-current written examination. Decorative Concrete Flatwork Associate: ACI will grant certification to those examinees who obtain a passing grade on the written examination AND: Are currently certified as an ACI Concrete Flatwork Associate Individuals with Decorative Concrete Flatwork Associate certification can upgrade to full Decorative Concrete Flatwork Finisher status upon submittal and approval of sufficient work experience and satisfying prerequisite certification. Certification is valid for a period of five years from the date of successfully completing all requirements. Recertification requires successful completion of the then-current written examination.
