When you become a medical imaging or radiation therapy professional, patients will be at the heart of everything you do. It’s important to always have the knowledge and skills needed to provide the best possible care to those you serve. If you completed your educational program before Jan. 1, 2023, you’ll need to have earned a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes. If you complete your program on or after Jan. 1, 2023, you’ll need to earn a master’s or doctoral degree. If you complete your RA educational program before Jan. 1, 2025, you’ll need at least one year of acceptable clinical experience. If you complete your program on or after Jan. 1, 2025, you’ll need two years of experience. You’ll need to complete an ARRT-approved radiologist assistant (RA) educational program. The program must include both didactic and clinical education competency requirements. You'll also need to be certified and registered with ARRT in Radiography before you can pursue an R.R.A. credential.
