Africana Studies majors define and apply major concepts, ideologies, and theories relevant to Africana studies, such as African agency/subjectivity. Students evaluate issues relevant to the experiences of people of African descent, in Africa or in the Diaspora, through a form of cultural immersion. The major requires 11 courses and an Experiential Learning Component. The degree requires 32 courses (not semester credit hours).
