Middle East Studies majors describe the Middle East and North Africa from varied disciplinary perspectives, analyze differences between the United States and the diverse societies of the region, and communicate effectively in Arabic or Modern Hebrew using all four linguistic skills to at least the intermediate standard. The major consists of 12 courses, including two years of Arabic or modern Hebrew. The degree requires 32 courses (not semester credit hours).
