Chemistry has been defined as the science that studies matter and its transformation and is, by nature, the 'central science,' standing between physics and biology. The Department of Chemistry offers three majors: a B.A. Chemistry major, an American Chemical Society (ACS) approved major in chemistry, and an ACS-approved major in biochemistry.
