English majors develop broad cultural awareness and advanced reading and writing skills through study of poetry, drama, fiction, film, and critical theory. Additional study of creative and persuasive writing, and grammar and linguistics prepares students for graduate study in literature, rhetoric and composition, creative or technical writing, linguistics, or for study of law.
