The Department of Biology offers a Master of Science degree built around thesis research and elective course work approved by the student's Thesis Advisory Committee. Full-time biology graduate students are required to attend and participate in the biology departmental seminars while in residence, and students who wish to teach biology laboratories complete additional teaching-preparation courses.
