Focus Statement A journey-level industrial insulator must be able to identify the materials utilized in mechanical insulation systems, the tools and processes by which to install them, and the proper handling and storage of materials; must be able to safely and properly install, maintain, and repair insulation systems on piping, equipment, ductwork, and vessels for commercial and industrial applications in accordance with codes and specifications; must be able to read, understand, and utilize construction drawings and specifications; must be able to identify power and hands tools commonly used in the industry, and operate them safely in accordance with their design. Overview l Two-hour closed-book examination l May use a basic function, non-printing calculator l No extra papers, books, notes or study materials are allowed Minimum passing score is 75.
