Detailed information about this program

The Medical Office Information Technology program prepares students to enter healthcare facilities such as hospitals, and doctor, dental, or chiropractic offices in a variety of positions. The program prepares students to be multi-skilled with knowledge of insurance codes for diagnoses and procedures, medical billing practices demonstrated with the Medisoft software, data entry for electronic health records and medical office administration skills. The program is self-paced with a blend of classroom theory and hands-on computer laboratory training that enables students to meet the requirements of entry-level medical information management. At the end of the four-month training in the classroom, students progress to a five-week, 200 hour externship where they demonstrate their ability to work in a medical environment. *Students must be 18 years old by the start of the class. Class Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 2:30 PM General Admissions Requirements Please complete the general admissions requirement before the application deadline listed above. Complete a TCAT Knoxville Application for your desired start term. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Use our school code 004025. Register and attend an orientation session. ​​Expect an email from our Admissions team around the Preferred Application Deadline of each trimester. Register for an orientation and attend orientation. When a seat is available, you will offered a seat in your program via email. If you do not receive a seat and become a priority alternate, you must continue attending orientations. Otherwise, you will lose your seat on the waitlist and will need to reapply. NOTE: Applications after the Final Deadline will be accepted by our application system, but priority is given to early applicants, as program seats are limited. Program Admission Requirements This program has no additional admissions requirements.
