The graduate program in materials science is an interdisciplinary program in the Department of Applied Physical Sciences that brings together faculty from chemistry, mathematics, physics and astronomy, and other departments. Primary areas of emphasis are optical and electronic materials, nanomaterials, polymers, and biomaterials. Students begin with a core curriculum covering the fundamentals of materials and continue with electives suited to their research area.
