The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) program is designed for individuals wishing to teach elementary school (grades K-6), middle school (grades 6-8), or high school (grades 9-12) in math, science, English, or social studies, or K-12 special education (general curriculum). This 12-month, full-time, field-based cohort program requires a minimum of 40 semester hours of advanced coursework and prepares candidates for initial North Carolina teaching licensure.
