Administration of Justice & Criminology

The Master of Science in the Administration of Justice and Criminology is designed to develop, enhance, and advance working professionals and scholars in the fields of administration of justice and criminology. It promotes an understanding of the causes and societal responses to crime and deviant behavior through a Cornelian perspective on professional practice including strong ethics, integrity, and social justice.

Applied Psychology

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Psychology is a flexible 120-credit (40 courses) curriculum offered fully online. The curriculum is designed to enable adult students to acquire knowledge of psychological methods and apply them in the service of understanding human behavior in social systems including the corporate, professional, family, organization and community settings.

Biology

The Biology Department aims to provide biology students with a foundation in the biological sciences through the study of living organisms at the molecular, genetic, cellular, organismal, and ecological levels. A student majoring in Biology is prepared to undertake graduate study, professional training in the medical sciences and allied health fields, teaching at the secondary level, or employment in an industry concerned with the biological or environmental sciences.

Business Administration

A 15-credit graduate certificate composed of MBA core coursework in leadership fundamentals, decision making models and strategies, and marketing theory and data analysis, plus two additional business electives. It may be earned as a standalone credential or embedded within a Rosemont graduate degree.

Chemistry

This rigorous program of study provides opportunities for the needs of individual students to be met through elective courses, offering a firm foundation for planning for graduate school, medical school, teaching, or a variety of chemistry related careers in healthcare, government, and industry.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

This CACREP-accredited 60-credit graduate program prepares students with exceptional clinical skills and specialized knowledge to work in diverse settings. Coursework aligns with national standards in counseling and requires 700 hours of supervised field experience through practicum and internship. It prepares students to seek Pennsylvania State Professional Counselor Licensure and certification as a Nationally Certified Counselor.

Communication

The Communication Major at Rosemont College offers an experiential program designed to empower students to create, interpret, and manage the dynamic landscape of modern media. Rooted in both theoretical principles and practical skills, this program equips students with the tools needed to navigate the digital world effectively.

Creative Writing

The Graduate Studies Creative Writing program offers a Master of Fine Arts requiring 36 credits (12 courses). Students may pursue work in poetry or a range of prose forms including creative nonfiction, dramatic writing, flash fiction, novel writing, short fiction, and writing for young adults.

Criminal Justice

Rosemont College's accelerated degree program in criminal justice prepares students to step into leadership roles in the fields of law enforcement, court administration, the judicial system, corrections, or private security, and lay the groundwork for graduate study or law school. Taught by professionals in the field, it is a flexible 120-credit (40 course) program offered through a variety of formats.

Criminal Justice

The Rosemont College School of Graduate & Professional Studies Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice (ASCJ) provides an introductory foundation to the American Criminal Justice System. The balanced and comprehensive liberal arts curriculum serves as the first two years of a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Program, placing an emphasis on current issues related to ethics, professional development, social justice, and offender rehabilitation.

Criminology

Criminology prepares students for career background in juvenile and adult probation, research positions, prison case management, investigative careers, victimology, parole, social services agencies, criminal justice agencies, court services, pre-law, forensic assistant, and other related careers. It can also serve as background training for graduate studies in forensic social science, criminology, law, and/or criminal justice.

Education

The Graduate Studies Education program offers a Master of Arts requiring 30 credits (10 courses) with no teaching certification attached. The course of study is typically available to teachers but is open to other individuals who desire to earn a graduate degree credential in education. The program is offered online.

Educational Leadership

The Graduate Studies PK-12 Principal Certification program offers Post Baccalaureate Certification requiring 24 credits (8 courses) and a MA Educational Leadership that requires just two additional courses for a total of 30 credits (10 courses). The program was developed to meet the PDE Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership (PIL) Standards and is offered online.

Elementary Education

The Graduate Studies PK-4 Certification program offers Post Baccalaureate Certification requiring 42.75 credits (16 courses) and a MA Elementary Education that requires just one additional course for a total of 45.75 credits (17 courses). The program is offered on campus and online and leads to PK-4 teaching certification.

Elementary Education

The Bachelor of Science degree program in Education is a professional program integrated within a liberal arts curriculum. The PK-4 track mandates 63 credit hours of required courses and 12 credit hours of student teaching; the PK-4 with PK-12 Special Education track requires 72 credit hours of required courses and 12 credit hours of student teaching. Both of these tracks lead to Pennsylvania Certification when all course requirements and other requisites are met.

English

The Department of English, Theater, and Writing offers the English major with its specializations in Literature or Writing. Students will explore, integrate, and ultimately challenge key issues in literature, culture and contemporary society through their study of fiction, drama, poetry, essays, biographies, journals, diaries and periodicals.

English and Communication

The Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communication is an innovative and rigorous major that addresses the needs of our students, current trends in the disciplines of English and Communication, and the demands of the marketplace especially in the areas of publishing, editing, and writing. Students will graduate with enhanced writing and research skills coupled with an understanding of traditional and current literary movements, periodicals, and publishing trends.

Entrepreneurship

A 12-credit graduate certificate built around Business Plan I: Overview of the Entrepreneurial Adventure and Business Plan II: Marketing and Financial Planning, plus two electives such as managerial accounting or branding and social media for entrepreneurs. MBA students can earn this certificate faster due to overlapping course requirements.

Forensic Psychology

A 12-credit graduate certificate anchored by Contemporary Issues in Forensic Psychology with additional coursework selected from victimology, juvenile justice and delinquency, offender treatment, and the psychology and sociology of information security.

Foundations of Information Security

One of three stackable Undergraduate Cybersecurity Credentials embedded within the BS in Global Cybersecurity. It comprises Foundations of Information Security, Cultural Implications of Information Security, and Global Threats and Information Security.

Foundations of Security Operations

One of three stackable Undergraduate Cybersecurity Credentials embedded within the BS in Global Cybersecurity. It comprises Security Organization, Offensive Security, Defensive Security, and Essentials of Incident Response.

Foundations of Software Security

One of three stackable Undergraduate Cybersecurity Credentials embedded within the BS in Global Cybersecurity. It comprises Intro to Programming in Rust, Software Testing and Validation, and Software Development Security.

Global Cybersecurity

Graduate certificates in Global Cybersecurity are offered in Advanced Information Security Essentials, Advanced Security Operations, and Advanced Software Security. Each is a stackable four-course sequence that may be taken standalone or embedded within a Rosemont graduate degree.

Global Cybersecurity

The Rosemont College School of Professional Studies Bachelor's degree in Global Cybersecurity is designed to support students who are returning to the college classroom after having studied and accumulated a collection of disparate college transfer credits. The program welcomes these credits and advisors help students to incorporate them into a broader scope of learning, with a foundation of courses at the base to help create consistency and context.

Healthcare Administration

A 12-credit graduate certificate in which students choose four courses covering healthcare organization and administration, economics of healthcare and public policy, risk management and patient affairs, psychosocial aspects of health, and long term care administration.

Healthcare Administration

Rosemont's Master of Science in Healthcare Administration helps prepare students to seek leadership and management positions in governmental, nonprofit, and private organizations. The curriculum requires 33 credits of coursework, which includes a 3-credit thesis. This program is only offered online.

Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration

Rosemont's M Ed in HESAA program centers on advocacy for social justice to enhance students' academic and cocurricular experiences, mastery of higher education administration skills and tools, and development of essential expertise for effective student affairs practitioners. The program requires 39 credits (15 courses).

History

The History major at Rosemont College is a practice-based program that develops transferrable skills in research, critical thinking, and communication while deepening understanding of the past. All history majors prepare for a specific career pathway in social studies secondary teaching, public history (heritage sites, archives, museums), or graduate school.

Homeland Security and Emergency Management

A 12-credit certificate beginning with Introduction to Homeland Security and continuing with three electives drawn from courses on critical infrastructure protection, intelligence, the psychology of terrorism, and human rights and social justice in the age of terrorism.

A 12-credit graduate certificate in which students select four courses covering organizational strategy and tactical planning, strategic talent management and development, organizational culture and change, legal and ethical HR issues, and contemporary issues in human resource management practice.

The accelerated 7-week semester online Professional Studies graduate Integrated Studies program offers a Master of Integrated Studies requiring 33 credits (11 courses). Students may mix and match courses across the accelerated graduate offerings and complete embedded graduate certificate coursework in areas such as business administration, forensic psychology, cybersecurity, and strategic leadership.

The Graduate Studies PK-12 Reading Specialist Certification program offers Post Baccalaureate Certification requiring 24 credits (8 courses) and a MA Literacy that requires just two additional courses for a total of 30 credits (10 courses). The fully online program is designed for teachers who hold a current PA Instructional I or II teaching certification.

The Business Program at Rosemont College provides students with a comprehensive business foundation, grounded in the liberal arts, where the principles, theories and applications of today's business environment are practiced and developed via engaging and experiential curricular and extracurricular learning.

Mathematics

The course of study for a major in mathematics provides students with a thorough grounding in various topics within the discipline. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to enter such fields as business, technology, and science. Students can seek employment in the private or government sectors or continue their studies at the graduate level.

Philosophy

The Philosophy program aims to provide students with insight into the human condition by exploring fundamental questions about reality, knowledge, and value through historical surveys of ideas and thinkers, critical analyses of basic philosophical issues, and in-depth study of a single author or topic. The program supports the mission of the College in its emphasis on developing open and critical minds and the ability to make reasoned moral decisions.

Political Science

The purpose of the political science major is to develop students into effective leaders in our increasingly global society. Courses are constructed to develop students' analytical and communication skills as well as to broaden students' base knowledge of a rapidly changing political landscape.

Premedical

Rosemont College's Post Baccalaureate Pre-medical program is designed to prepare students to enter graduate or professional school programs in the health care fields. This program serves two groups of students: Career Changers and/or Record Enhancers. All applicants must have a bachelor's degree to be admitted to the program.

Professional Studies

The MPS is designed for experienced practitioners who already possess a conferred graduate degree and who further complete the requirements of a Rosemont graduate certificate, earning at least 24 credits in residence. This program blends the in-depth academic focus of academic programs with specialized, industry-relevant skills and experience that can be applied directly in the workplace.

Psychology

The Department of Psychology offers an exciting and challenging curriculum and a broad range of courses to understand psychology as a scientific discipline. The focus is on relevant, current research in developmental, social/personality, counseling, and neuropsychology to better understand the brain, mind, and human behavior. The program prepares students for a full range of career options as well as for graduate study in psychology and related fields.

Publishing

The Graduate Studies Publishing program offers a Master of Arts requiring 36 credits (12 courses), including 18 credits of master courses and 18 credits of electives. Elective courses may be drawn from children's (including middle grade and young adult), digital, and editorial tracks.

School Counseling

This CACREP-accredited 60-credit graduate program combines theory and experiential learning to prepare school counselors. Students complete 700 hours of supervised field experience through practicum and internship. Graduates are enabled to obtain Pennsylvania State Department of Education Specialist I Certification and prepared to seek Professional Counselor Licensure.

Sociology (BA)

The purpose of the Sociology Programs is to provide the student with an understanding of the social structures, their functioning, cultures, and individual and group behaviors. The applied dimensions of Sociology are emphasized; sociologists as problem solvers and social interventionists are studied in class and field experiences.

Spanish

Students who complete the Modern Languages program at Rosemont College will be able to use a foreign language at a proficient level of communication with a native speaker. Instruction is provided in the history, arts, literature and cultures of Spanish and Spanish-speaking countries, and since all courses are taught in Spanish, the student will acquire the oral and written skills to communicate effectively with Spanish speakers.

Strategic Leadership

A 12-credit graduate certificate covering leadership fundamentals, organizational psychology and behavior, leading change for innovation and alignment, and developing a learning organization for the knowledge based economy. MBA students can earn this certificate faster due to overlapping course requirements.

Strategic Leadership

The MSSL is in an accelerated format in which each course lasts seven weeks, and students can complete the degree requirement in less than 24 months. The program is comprised of 33 credits made up of 11 defined courses, so there are no electives within the program. It is designed to help graduates acquire fundamental leadership skills and learn theories of leadership within personal and professional contexts.

The Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art & Graphic Design educates and trains prospective artists and designers. Curricular options include an emphasis in studio art or interactive design, as well as PK-12 art teacher certification. The sustainability studies major emphasizes the role that the liberal arts play in creating a sustainable future. The major helps students develop knowledge, approaches, and habits of mind necessary to help build a more just and resilient world while adapting to the rapidly changing challenges in our communities and environments.

Theology and Religious Studies

The program in Theology and Religious Studies responds to the needs of students by stimulating them to search for meaning and explore why religion is such a vital element of the human experience both in the past and in the contemporary world. The department offers a broad spectrum of courses that leads students to theological investigation of anthropological and religious dimensions.
